Adrenomedullin as a potential biomarker involved in patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia

چکیده

BackgroundAdrenomedullin (AM) is a vasoactive peptide mostly secreted by endothelial cells with an important role in preserving integrity. The relationship between AM and hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) unknown. We aimed to compare the serum levels tissue expression of HHT patients controls.MethodsSerum were measured radioimmunoassay compared control groups. also among subgroups according clinical characteristics. single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs4910118 was assessed restriction analysis sequencing. immunohistochemistry performed on biopsies cutaneous from eight healthy skin five group.ResultsForty-five 50 controls included, mean age (SD) 50.7 (14.9) years 46.4 (9.9) (p = 0.102), respectively. female (60% vs 38%, p 0.032). Median [Q1-Q3] 68.3 [58.1–80.6] pg/mL group 47.7 [43.2–53.8] (p<0.001), optimal cut-off Youden's J statistic 55.32 (J:0.729). Serum similar subgroups. No patient had SNP rs4910118. immunoreactivity found high intensity abnormal blood vessels biopsies.ConclusionsWe detected higher than controls. HHT, whether may constitute novel biomarker therapeutic target, needs further investigation.

Pericytes as targets in hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia

Defective paracrine Transforming Growth Factor-β (TGF-β) signaling between endothelial cells and the neighboring mural cells have been thought to lead to the development of vascular lesions that are characteristic of Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). This review highlights recent progress in our understanding of TGF-β signaling in mural cell recruitment and vessel stabilization and h...

liver findings in patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia

conclusion the involved liver with hht typically shows vascular shunting and biliary diseases. also, arteriovenous shunts may be vulnerable to biliary diseases. results (i) three types of shunting were found in the livers, including arteriovenous (hepatic artery to hepatic vein) in 6 cases, arterioportal (hepatic artery to portal vein) in 2 cases, and portal venous (portal vein to hepatic vein)...

Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia/avastin.

This is the first scientific report of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) epistaxis treatment by intranasal spraying of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor bevacizumab (Avastin). Epistaxis in patients with HHT is a morbid, mortal condition that is difficult and unpleasant to manage. Nasal telangiectasia growth is modulated by VEGF, which is elevated in HHT patients....

Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia Management.

Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is an inherited disorder that can lead to frequent and severe sequelae. Although the condition has no cure, many of its physical symptoms can be managed to improve the quality of life and lower the risk of life-threatening complications. This article discusses HHT presentation, genetic screening, diagnosis, and management. The management of HHT can in...

Endovascular treatment of epistaxis in patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The treatment of epistaxis in patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia can be very challenging. The purpose of our study was to evaluate our experience with endovascular epistaxis embolization in patients with hemorrhagic hereditary telangiectasia and to compare this with our experience in patients treated for idiopathic epistaxis. MATERIALS AND METHODS Over ...
